March 17--OUT YONDER--HARTFORD, KY

HI! I am clear in the middle uh nowhere.

The internet stopped working earlier so I just finished this!

This weeks craziness:
- I ran a red light yesterday. Totally didn't even notice, I think I thought it was a stop sign or something. But I broke the law on my mission. WHOOPS.
- We lost the phone last night and were searching for days and days in the same spot because we KNEW it was there. It had to be. So after a little while we decided to pray and asked specifically that we find it and then literally Sister Clark gets out of the car and 2 seconds later its right in front of her face. Power of prayer is real! I'm sure Heavenly Father got a real kick out of that one.
- Sister Clark is nuts and super weird, but I love her!
- Hartford is CLEAR out in the sticks. And there are no missionaries around, which I am not used to. Our district has to travel to have district meeting, which is so foreign to me! The population is like 2,000. Maybe. I LOVE IT. I feel at home here and I love these people and I love this area and I love this small town.
- The Branch is super awesome. The Pieper's son-in-law is Caden's spanish teacher (Kyle Cambell)! Isn't that crazy? Small world! She was just in STG visiting too. He said he would give Caden homework assignments to write me, ha!
- You know you've been in the south too long when you hear a Utahn speak and say they have an accent. These southerners don't have accents to me anymore, it's weird.
- I got here to Kentucky and BAM allergies like mad. It hit me like a brick wall. So I have cold-like symptoms 24/7 and medicine does nothing. Good thing I love it out here!
- We have a full time car, which is good and bad. We cover all of Ohio county in Kentucky.
- Almost half the branch is related. I haven't met all of them either because it was stake conference in Hopkinsville yesterday. I'm also speaking this week so that's fun. First time on the mish!
- Our apartment is soooo nice. Nice as in clean and well taken care of. It's crazy, but I love it.
- Mom asked me about my iPad. I take it with me to my new area, and then we sync our area books when we get here so it has all the info for Hartford instead of Lebanon.
- This was my first week without having training hour so it's a little weird, but I love it! Quality pros time at 10am here for some reason.
- I think I'm addicted to DQ. And a guy in our ward owns the one here 😁
- I love Sister Clark. She's super weird, but she's super sweet and is game with all of my crazy finding ideas and hard work.
- I forgot to tell you about Nashville last week. We went with Kathy and the Hermanas to the temple so Kathy could see it and walk around. Then we went to downtown Nashville and I was totally in culture shock. It was so worldly there! It was killing me. It was such a weird moment. I had a little glimpse of what it was like to be in the world and it was soo so I don't even know but I didn't like it. When I get home we should just go camping for days and days and preach the gospel to fellow campers. That would ease me in pretty good. Or I could just stay on my mission forever. That's definitely preferred. Anyways, we walked down Broadway and went to Hard Rock Cafe for dinner and had ice cream at a cute little shop. It was super fun. We also got stopped by a Mormon family from Minnesota because they could see we were missionaries. I love the camaraderie between Mormons. They were such a good family! One of the sons had a mission call waiting for him in the mail when they get back!
-I SAW TABATHA YESTERDAY!! Ah it was the best. She took the sisters in CV2 to stake conference. It was so happy. I was so stoked to see her. They're actually moving to California soon! San Diego area. I'll visit them post mish for sure. She is just so happy and she LOVES being a member. Jada is preparing to get baptized too! Tab has to move to Alabama before she moves to California (long story) but she said she's already found a church because she wasn't going to move there unless they had an LDS church for her to go to :) She has a calling in the ward and everything! She's so cute. It makes me so happy. Experiencing someones conversion "unto The Lord", as Alma frequently puts it, with them is like nothing else. She is just GLOWING with the spirit. And she said Mat goes to church every week with her and he's coming closer to his faith! Which is AWESOME.

As for the wonderful area of the Hartford branch! --

We found lots and lots of new investigators this week!! The phrase "teach when you find, find when you teach" from PMG is definitely one of my strengths. Remember when I said in my farewell talk that I was most nervous about not finding people to teach? That's like my
specialty now haha that sounds super prideful, don't get me wrong, I've got LOTS to work on. Heavenly Father TRULY makes our weaknesses strengths though. I have a LOT to work on as a missionary, but it is really cool to see the changes in myself and my comps as we all strive to be
better. We are seeing the progress in some investigators here that were kind of dormant before. I was surprised at how many of these people had been SEEN (slash missionaries just hung out at their house) by missionaries, but not TAUGHT. Crazy crazy. This area has only been open for sisters for about 6 months. It had senior couples before us. There hasn't been a baptism here for 5 years, but we will definitely have one! These people are awesome and so prepared!

We taught lots of awesome people this week but here are some highlights:
1. Katherine and Jared! They were potentials so we went to see them and they were home! We taught the restoration and it was super awesome. The spirit was strong and they are so eager to learn. They said they would be baptized when they know it is true! She doesn't have a huge religious background like a lot of people here do, but she has this great desire to learn more. She is super family centered and that is awesome. And they're married! Woo!
2. Martha Wolf is a GEM she hadn't ever been taught by missionaries so we went over and taught her the Restoration as well. She loved it and you could just see her getting more and more interested as we talked and asked her questions. She said she would be baptized if she received an answer as well!
3. Maria is active in her Christian church but she has a strong testimony of the truth of our church because she can see it in the kids she works with. It's amazing how the examples of this branch have helped so much in this work here. EVERYONE knows the Canty's and the Pieper's.
4. Lara Bailey is awesome and we had a really spiritual lesson with her yesterday. She is having a really hard time and we taught the atonement and a short Plan of Salvation lesson and it was great.
5. Knocking has been super successful lately. We have found lots of people ready to hear the gospel! Jamie was one who was super happy about us coming and she referred us to her family to knock as well. We have a return appointment for this week so we will see how it goes!
She's great though and her grandma was actually Mormon, but died 2 years ago. She wants to learn about it because of her grandmas great example.

It's been an awesome awesome week! Good things to come :)

I was reading this talk yesterday called "Of Things That Matter Most" and President Uchdorf stated some really awesome life lessons. I copied and pasted some of my favorite things to share with y'all:

"The wise understand and apply the lessons of tree rings and air turbulence. They resist the temptation to get caught up in the frantic rush of everyday life. They follow the advice “There is more to life than increasing its speed.”1 In short, they focus on the things that matter most.

Elder Dallin H. Oaks, in a recent general conference, taught, “We have to forego some good things in order to choose others that are better or best because they develop faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and strengthen our families.”2

----

Amidst the multitude of voices and choices, the humble Man of Galilee stands with hands outstretched, waiting. His is a simple message: “Come, follow me.”5 And He does not speak with a powerful megaphone but with a still, small voice.6 It is so easy for the basic gospel message to get lost amidst the deluge of information that hits us from all sides.

----

So What Are the Basics?

As we turn to our Heavenly Father and seek His wisdom regarding the things that matter most, we learn over and over again the importance of four key relationships: with our God, with our families, with our fellowman, and with ourselves. As we evaluate our own lives with a willing mind, we will see where we have drifted from the more excellent way. The eyes of our understanding will be opened, and we will recognize what needs to be done to purify our heart and refocus our life.

First, our relationship with God is most sacred and vital. We are His spirit children. He is our Father. He desires our happiness. As we seek Him, as we learn of His Son, Jesus Christ, as we open our hearts to the influence of the Holy Spirit, our lives become more stable and secure. We experience greater peace, joy, and fulfillment as we give our best to live according to God’s eternal plan and keep His commandments.

We improve our relationship with our Heavenly Father by learning of Him, by communing with Him, by repenting of our sins, and by actively following Jesus Christ, for “no man cometh unto the Father, but by [Christ].”10 To strengthen our relationship with God, we need some
meaningful time alone with Him. Quietly focusing on daily personal prayer and scripture study, always aiming to be worthy of a current temple recommend--these will be some wise investments of our time and efforts to draw closer to our Heavenly Father. Let us heed the invitation in Psalms: “Be still, and know that I am God.”11

Our second key relationship is with our families. Since “no other success can compensate for failure”12 here, we must place high priority on our families. We build deep and loving family relationships by doing simple things together, like family dinner and family home evening and by just having fun together. In family relationships love is really spelled t-i-m-e, time. Taking time for each other is the key for harmony at home. We talk with, rather than about, each other. We learn from each other, and we appreciate our differences as well as our commonalities. We establish a divine bond with each other as we approach God together through family prayer, gospel study, and Sunday worship.

The third key relationship we have is with our fellowman. We build this relationship one person at a time--by being sensitive to the needs of others, serving them, and giving of our time and talents. I was deeply impressed by one sister who was burdened with the challenges of age and illness but decided that although she couldn’t do much, she could listen. And so each week she watched for people who looked troubled or discouraged, and she spent time with them, listening. What a blessing she was in the lives of so many people.

The fourth key relationship is with ourselves. It may seem odd to think of having a relationship with ourselves, but we do. Some people can’t get along with themselves. They criticize and belittle themselves all day long until they begin to hate themselves. May I suggest that you reduce the rush and take a little extra time to get to know yourself better. Walk in nature, watch a sunrise, enjoy God’s creations, ponder the truths of the restored gospel, and find out what they mean for you personally. Learn to see yourself as Heavenly Father sees you--as His precious daughter or son with divine potential."

March 10-"boon docks" not "boon dogs"

Hello friends and fam! 👋

Literally just found out that it's "boon docks" not "boon dogs". Made
a fool outta myself figuring it but that's ok!

Onto missionary life! This week was odd. But happy as always!

I'm being transferred again :( Heavenly Father is just moving me all
over this mission! I am going to Hartford, Kentucky with Sister Clark
(Sister Rawlings came out with her, apparently she's kinda nuts and
speaks in a Scottish accent 24/7 and quotes movies all day long and is
extremely quiet, but a sweetheart. I mean that's cool, but I'll
probably go crazy.) An adventure awaits! I am downsizing every time I
move to a different area. Clarksville was huge, Lebanon is a little
smaller than STG and Hartford... Well no one has ever heard of it so
definitely in the middle of nowhere and a tiny town. The true south
here I come! It's one of the most northern-outer parts of the mission.
I'm super nervous, but feel at peace knowing that I left Lebanon in
much better shape than we found it. Everyone kept telling us stories
of Lebanon being a lost and fallen land of missionary work, but I
don't believe in that and I don't think Heavenly Father does either.
We worked our hardest and hopefully I will be back to see some of
these people enter the waters of baptism! We are teaching lots and
lots right now. Well, Sister Rawlings and her new companion are haha.
Sister Rawlings is getting Sister Tenney. It was really hard to say
bye to everyone in the ward, and especially the people we are
teaching! I have so many pictures I don't even know how to send them
all. I'll just send a couple if I get wifi! I keep forgetting to get
pictures with some of my favorite people though, whoops.

I'm actually headed to Nashville today for pday! It's like 40 min
away. We got approved to go! The Hermanas investigator Kathy took us.

Anyways! This week was great. Heavenly Father blessed us with lots of
new investigators randomly. Like, people moved so we talked to the new
people that live there and they want to learn more, or people walking
around after we come out of an appointment and they want to learn, or
people's family members that weren't there before want to listen. Just
lots of cool miracles!

One really awesome highlight of this week was teaching Matt and
Shelby. They pretty much know nothing about Jesus Christ and Heavenly
Father, but they know they believe in them. Literally starting from no
knowledge at all. We are truly introducing them to Jesus Christ. Which
is super unusual for the south. We taught the first half of the
restoration and really emphasized Gods love and the saviors earthly
ministry and we did the lesson with a visual so we talked about Gospel
of Jesus Christ too. He was familiar with the words, but had no idea
what they meant. He also read the first 7 pages of the Book of Mormon
on his own like 5 times so he could understand what was happening. He
is truly seeking! It was SO COOL. The spirit was so strong.

Jeanette and Ron are great. They went back to their old church on
Sunday so we will see what happens with that. Jeanette wants to be
submissive to her husband like "the bible says" so she's doing
whatever he says about church, but she wants to be baptized and come
to church with us. She's nervous about having a split home with the
different churches though.

Tina and Chelsea came to church again. They're great. We had a really
good lesson with Tina this week too actually. She has a big problem
with being baptized again though, even though we've talked about it in
every way possible. She's kinda nuts, but we love her. Chelsea is
awesome (her daughter).

There's a few other investigators that are progressing too! We have
been extremely blessed, even through the hard times. I've loved
serving here. Sister Rawlings and I made our companionship work with
the Lords guiding hand and we had fun and worked super hard!

I found one of my new favorite scriptures: "And I will also be your
light in the wilderness; and I will prepare the way before you, if it
so be that ye shall keep my commandments; wherefore, inasmuch as ye
shall keep my commandments ye shall be led ... and ye shall know that
it is by me that ye are led." (1 Nephi 17:13)

That scripture hits home every time. I know that Heavenly Father will
be our light in the wilderness to lead us and guide us if we let Him.
Our Liahona (the spirit) only functions, and we can only recognize it,
when we keep the commandments. It reminds me of John 10 where Christ
says,

"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me." (John 10:27)

Only His sheep, who are keeping the commandments and believe in Him,
will hear the Masters voice and will act on their beliefs and follow
Him. I love when Christ teaches us this. That only by faith and action
on our faith (obedience) can we be guided and lead as a light in the
wilderness. Obedience brings blessings! It sets us free and brings the
greatest joys.

"Do not only believe in Christ, but believe Him." -Believing Christ

Know that he is there to help us through the mountains to climb!

Wish me luck! New area, new people, new experiences. I'm stoked and
apparently so is Heavenly Father! When there's a will there's a way.
Please pray that my companion is not crazy. I love you all so much.
Later maters.

Love,
Sister Boren

PS- I also call dibs on taking care of mom and dad when they're old!
😎 I had an experience this week with this one guy we met on the
street so that's what provoked that thought haha

March 3--Snow in Tennessee and Super Long Email--Sorry!

Let me give you another little taste of what life is like here in the south.

1. When it snows it is a BIG DEAL. Big deal. Bigger deal than when STG
gets snow. People talk about it for weeks before and after it happens.
Right now there is probably a quarter inch of snow and school is
canceled. One time the whole city shut down because of an extremely
mild ice storm. They have this attitude of "if God put it on the
earth, he'll take it off too." So they don't prepare for anything and
have no means of plowing the roads.
2. The saying "I'm happier than a tornado in a trailer park" is a
thing. And so is the saying that something is "slap-your-mama good".
3. When it storms, people sit out in there garage with a cig in hand
watching the storm. They LOVE storms. You're definitely not a
southerner if you don't like storms.
4. I'm almost positive the dentists round these parts get all their
money from making dentures.
5. They go to bed SUPER early. Don't knock their door at 830pm unless
you want a gun pointed at your face.
6. They believe the CRAZIEST things about us. The best one is that we
don't believe in Jesus Christ, yet the name of our church is The
Church of Jesus Christ so that one kills me every time. Good stuff.
People's preachers say the darnedest things about us. It's great.
7. "Y'all come back now ya hear."
8. They cook with heaps of butter, oil and all things fatty. And if
you want some high quality entertainment, ask a southerner what it
means to "eat healthy". HA!
9. A good southern front porch is chuck full with a bunch of random
stuff. Broken TV's, toys, windows, rocking chair, table, boxes,
microwave, refrigerator, Dixie flags, old boots, food, car doors, you
name it and you could probably find it on one of these porches. It's
like a constant year-round yard sale.
10. Disability pay.. Good ole disability pay. You will constantly ask
yourself, "how do these people even have money?"

All in all, life is a hoot and definitely an adventure every day. Good
stuff. I love it so much.

In other news! JEANETTE AND RON CAME TO CHURCH! And so did Tina and
Chelsea!! Jeanette called us and left a voicemail about us helping her
with her phones and then at the very end she pauses and said "and by
the way... HE SAID YES!" And then she texted us and was overjoyed that
he said yes. We were stoked to say the very least. She talked to him
about how their preacher was going to flip out and he says "well what
do I care". Pretty awesome considering the series of events before
this. His heart has been softened immensely. They came and they loved
it! We pretty much texted the whole ward to make sure they all said hi
to them. And they did! It was great. Tina, on the other hand, is
another story. But we don't have to talk about that one haha.

We had some awesome contacting situations this week. 1000 points for
the promptings of the Holy Spirit! Bike weeks are the best.

The ward is becoming more and more missionary minded. It's wonderful.
We are having each family pray about one less active and one nonmember
to fellowship and share the gospel with to introduce to us. We use the
scriptures in John 10:14,16 and 3 Nephi 15 about the shepherd and the
other sheep (nonmembers) and lost sheep (less actives). The spirit is
always very strong. Heavenly Father has prompted me numerous times
that He wants us to work really hard with the members in this area and
that's how we will progress the work here. So we are going forward
with faith!

Interviews were this week and I just love president so much. He is
truly an inspired man and helped me set goals for myself and this area
(y'all know how goal oriented I am). I loved the scripture he shared
with me in 2 Nephi 4:35-36 I think it was. It talks about not trusting
man, and trusting in only God and His council. It got me thinking a
lot about how much I have changed since coming out. I have changed
more than I ever thought I could, and all for the better! I was
looking back at how very LITTLE I used to involve The Lord in even the
simplest daily activities of life. I always had a prayer in my heart,
but I hardly gave a sincere kneeling prayer morning, midday and
evening like I should have. It's amazing the difference you see in
your life when you take time for those simple things. Prayer is
definitely my first resort now. And I can honestly say that I knew
hardly anything about the restoration before my mission. I mean I knew
the series of events, but not the depth? Have y'all seen the Joseph
smith papers? I hear they're great.

Oh! And we got mini iPads and they trained us on them. The area book,
planner, Facebook, email (only on Mondays), and gospel library are all
on here. Cool huh! The Lord is hastening His work. D&C 88:73. I'm
actually emailing you from my iPad right now!

We had exchanges with the STL's this week! I was with Sister Knecht in
Springfield, TN and Sister Rawlings was with Sister Rich here in
Lebanon. During exchanges I always learn a TON. Sometimes the stresses
of missionary work come down on ya pretty hard and you forget to
remember how much you LOVE missionary work. And the joy found therein.
One lesson I've learned these past couple transfers is just that.
There is always joy in the journey, no matter how hard a specific
trial may seem. Whether it be a so-called "hard area", a very opposite
companion, or an unloving ward, there is always joy in the work of
salvation. I have never felt so much happiness than here on my mission
serving these people and bringing them to the greater light and
knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ! Heavenly Father is very aware
of all of His children. Something else I've learned and am continuing
to learn is understanding people and not getting judgmental or
irritated so quickly by the other missionaries and/or church leaders
actions, because we probably just don't know enough about them and the
circumstances around the situation. In other words, handling
situations as Christ would. 3 Nephi 27:27 is one of my favorite
scripture masteries.

Yesterday the bishops daughter bore her testimony about going to the
temple because she went through for the first time about a month ago.
She talked about how she has been a member of the church her whole
life and had always yearned for that "recent convert glow" that people
have after they are baptized and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
When she went through the temple she said she felt like she was a
recent convert. I thought back to my experience in the temple and how
I felt the spirit so strong after going through and can relate exactly
with how she explained her experience. I didn't think I was capable of
feeling so much love and joy from on high. I am so grateful for the
temple and the chance we have to be a part of such a great cause!

I've been thinking a lot about the priesthood lately and what it means
to have Gods authority on the Earth. I LOVE studying the priesthood. I
love it. There are so many evidences in the scriptures of the
Melchizedek and Aaronic (Levitical) priesthoods. It's amazing! And "A
Marvelous Work and a Wonder" goings pretty deep into it so I've been
digging into it a lot lately. (I highly recommend reading that book!)
I've also been studying about the women's role in the priesthood. I
love what Elder Quentin L Cook says:

"We sometimes overly associate the power of the priesthood with men in
the Church. The priesthood is the power and authority of God given for
the salvation and blessing of all--men, women, and children.

A man may open the drapes so the warm sunlight comes into the room,
but the man does not own the sun or the light or the warmth it brings.
The blessings of the priesthood are infinitely greater than the one
who is asked to administer the gift."
-"Power in the Priesthood"

I also love the analogy of the man is the vessel, the holder of the
umbrella (the priesthood), but the blessings of it are over all of the
family. Each member has a different role in the work of salvation.
Gods plan is amazing.

I am so grateful growing up with a father who was worthy to hold the
priesthood and for the difference it makes in the home. Love you pops!

Anyways, my studies have been awesome lately if you can't tell. I'm
going to be so weird when I get back. All I like to talk about is the
gospel. You're welcome for the longest email of your lives.

There are lots of great things happening in this area and I'm so
blessed to be a part of it. We are working as hard as we can. This is
truly the LORD'S work and the more I understand that, the more
grateful I become to be an instrument in His hands. Each of us are a
part of this! Missionaries and members alike!

Anyways, I love each of you so much and I miss you loads.

Sister Boren

PS- it's week sox (week six) so please send any letters (Pops) to the
mission home at 105 Westpark Dr Ste 190 - Brentwood, TN 37027. Just in
case. I'll probably stay here, but who knows. Everyone keeps talking
to me like I'm leaving but I think they're nuts. Love y'all!

Feb 24--Good Ol' Lebenon

Oh man funniest story:
So Jeanette, crazy crazy Jeanette, calls us yesterday and tells us how she went to church and the preachers sermon is on "Mormonism and Joseph Smith". Hm, wonder why, she says. She says "he told us that yall believe in 1000 God's, but I knew that wasn't true don't worry. Then we went to lunch after and I had a small seizure and when I woke up my gingerale was all over the preacher! Is that a sign??" Then she just laughs hysterically. Her husband won't let her go to church still :( She wants to come so bad! She knows the church is true and she loves it, but is being held back by Ron. The elders/preacher told Ron that he needed to take better control of his wife.. so therefore she can't come to church. But Ron was baffled at how mean their preacher was about us so his heart is being softened and she's hopeful for next week! Man, the unique problems of the south!

It's really disheartening that all of these denominations bash each other like crazy. Growing up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we don't ever do that, so it baffles me when I hear of all of these things that preachers say about us and other religions too! It's really sad.

Darn it! I have to go! Time's up! I will write a handwritten letter home.

Love y'all tons!

Love,
Sister Boren

Alma 26:35-37
This is one of my favorite houses ever. One day I will make a house just like it!
THE TEMPLE!!!!!! So much happy in one day. (Sister Stokes, Sister Kepler, me, Sister Rawlings)
Thanks for the cookies mama!! And my knitting stuff :) I LOVE packages!!

Feb 18--OH HAPPY DAY!

Tomorrow we are going to the temple and that's all I can really think about at the moment. Sooooo stoked. I haven't been for 5 months! I took going to the temple for granted when I was back home, that's for sure. Sometimes on the hard days, I either think about being on top of a mountain or being in the temple, and all is well.
So this week was extremely hard, but it's ok because we are staying positive and happy! Every Monday for the past 3 weeks, one of our progressing investigators has dropped us. And anyone that has ever served a mission knows that is really really hard. You just want to help them know this wonderful news! And then opposition hits and as a missionary you are thinking, "well that's wonderful! The gospel can help you!!", but then they just get anti-ed or something and won't let us talk to them again. Sometimes Sister Rawlings and I just want to make them eat the cake (the gospel), and shove it into their faces. But then we realize that isn't Christ-like at all and the ability to choose is a God-given gift! We love it. We love that people can choose. Even though it's hard sometimes :) But lets be real, some of the anti out there is preeeetty hilarious. I learn something new about our religion everyday! It's usually completely false or a twisted truth, but it livens up the day, that's for sure. Did I tell you about how we have to get Joseph Smith's permission to get to heaven? And that we worship him? And the Book of Mormon is a "Bible for dummies"? Oh, and we definitely practice poligamy. Man, the things we hear. I'm tellin' ya. It's great! Take it with a grain of salt and it becomes a good story for the journal.
I feel like every few weeks your full fledged into the finding cycle again, and that's where we're at now! I love tracting, so that's good haha!

We had 50 lessons this week which is crazy awesome. Standard of excellence is 30 and we usually get 40 so 50 was kind of a fantasized goal, but we made it! I love reaching goals, it's the best. We went to Carthage, TN and met/taught tons of people there. I think there should be a set of missionaries there! It's a great place. SUPER pretty too. Them famous Tennessee hills all over the place. Good people too! Apparently the rich cats go there to get their drugs though, so that's fun. Sometimes we play the game, "what are they smoking?" when we tract. Usually it's just cigarettes, but sometimes we smell marijuana or meth. I hate drugs.
Some highlights of the week!
Jeanette is just a gem! She is so wonderful! She knows the church is true, and she wants to come to church so bad, but she can't because of her husband. Ron's heart is being softened though and I know he will come around! He's a nice guy, he's just undecided on the matter. She told her preacher that she was thinking about converting to the church of jesus christ of latter day saints and she said he went crazy. HA! She told her PREACHER though. She's not ashamed at all and I love it. Lots of prayers sent her way this week because of all of the opposition she is facing. She's strong, but she still feels very alone on her journey to finding truth!
We taught Jenny McPeak the first lesson and committed her to baptism! She has lots to overcome before that point, but she's great and loves the lessons! The spirit is always so strong with her too. She's definitely prepared to hear the gospel.
Sister Rawlings and I teach very very unified now which is amazing! It's really cool to be a trainer because you learn so much. I love it.
I was thinking back to the day I went into the MTC, and before then today because at District Meeting we had an awesome training on being a consecrated missionary and how much we've changed and what we want to do to be better. I was just dumb, that's all there is to it. I feel like I've learned heaps and bounds more than I ever thought possible! I love being in the refiners fire because you KNOW your weaknesses, and you KNOW your strengths, and so does Heavenly Father. He is so mindful of us! Alma 26:37!
I love you all so much. The gospel changes lives! I know that because it has changed mine, and continues to do so every single day. This is the Lords work! And I know as we really apply ourselves this week (Sister Rawlings and I), and develop the faith to find, we will find those that are prepared! That principle applies to almost anything in life.

I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH! You're all incredible people.
Love,
Sister Boren

Bubble gum for our rainy walk home! Reminds me of papa!

Feb. 10--YO HELLO FAMILY AND FRIENDS

Hello family and pals!
You may see a friend request from me from facebook, so you can like/share my posts to your pals! I can't chat with you though, but I love you! I think I said that last time, but just so you know! I'm praying hard to find some investigators online. If the prophet says that's how the work needs to move forward, that's what I'll do.
This week was great! The Nelson's went to a non-denominational church on Sunday and Wednesday (church on Wednesdays is really really big here) and they thought it was fun so they are going back to that one because it is fun. They know the Book of Mormon is the word of God, but they want church to be really fun so they dropped us. It was really hard, but all is well.
We had lots of miracles this week! It was great. Found a couple new families to teach and had success in Hartsville (a town out yonder) finding people as well. They should put missionaries there.
Anyways, Tina Arbogast and Chelsea (her daughter) came to church on Sunday and her heart has been softened like crazy. She is so willing and ready to learn and loves everything we talk about. She says she feels she has a strong connection with us and she's not sure why. So cool!
Jeanette and Ron Hoffman are so awesome. They are active in their Church of Christ church, but they are really wanting to seek out truth. They read the Book of Mormon a lot and they are praying. They love all that we have taught them thus far! But yesterday she said she was ambushed by her preacher and elders and they gave her a bunch of anti materials. When I mean a bunch I mean pages and pages. She hadn't looked at it yet, and wanted us to look at it. So we did and it was truly hilarious. Saying stuff like we had to get Joseph Smiths permission to go to heaven and a bunch of twisted half-truths. She trusts us a lot and wants to come to church with us Sunday! Which is a HUGE step because their church is the same time as ours so she'd be missing theirs.
We met this guy Robert knocking doors in an apartment complex. He's athiest because he went to a Baptist church and was questioning the ordinance of being "saved". He thinks that you can't just say something and go to heaven automatically. Which it just so happens that's what Christ taught so we are teaching him now! We also randomly found a less active member that really really wants to get back to church. He lives in the Gallatin Elders area though, but super cool we found him. He still reads his scriptures every night and prays, he's just missing church/the sacrament! His mom wants to get back to church too. Super cool miracle we found them. They're actually from Reno, Nevada.
Those are the miracles from the past couple days!
All of these days are just mumbling together into one mush and I do not like it. Can you believe I have been out 5 months? That is crazy talk! The weeks feel like days and the days feel like seconds. It's nuts. Just nuts. Everyone says after your 3rd transfer time is just gone and it flies. I pray for time to slow down!
We had the car this week and the weather has been nuts! Next week is bike week and it is supposed to be just as cold, but all is well! We love it!!
I love you all so so much. I am so happy to know such quality people. Miss you all!

This is Hartsville! Just imagine it super green in the summer time! Tennessee's rolling hills are a beaut.
I LOVE Y'ALL!
When investigators drop you, Sister Anderson advises us to get ice cream. So we did :)

Feb. 3--HI HI HI

This week was awesome. Lots of our investigators are progressing towards baptism now and we had some stellar experiences with helping them pray out loud in front of is. The spirit was UNREAL. I feel like I use "unreal" a lot, but I don't really know what else to use. Y'all sound go out with the missionaries sometime. It's super great when members come with us! #teammormons
THANK YOU MAMA FOR THE PACKAGE! Those cookies were divine and tasted just like I remembered 'em.
Random tidbits:
- There is a road here in Leb'nin called "taterpeeler rd". YEP.
- This week was bike week and we biked so many miles! It was nuts! I loved it. I love my bike.
- Jeanne Dunn dropped off the face of the universe until two days ago she texted us back. We were so worried about her! Truly thought something awful happened to her. But all is well! She's alive and awesome!
- My name is Sister Boren and I am addicted to sugar.
- I am getting Facebook as a missionary soon, because I had a huge prompting to get it to help teach some of our investigators here when we can't physically visit them. So I can add all yall but can't talk to you! It's mostly so that y'all can share my posts and spread the good word. Not sure if they'll send a letter about that out so I thought I'd letcha know! We get iPads at the end of this month too so that's crazy.
- Sister Rawlings and I just could not be more opposite. It's pretty funny. I love her though and she's obedient so that's happy!
- We have been finding more less actives in the ward! It's sad because these ladies have all just been forgotten about. It's so sad.
- Having a good attitude is key. Seriously. Don't choose to be sad/discouraged, totally not worth it.
I have been reading in Helaman and I just love it. In Helaman 4:21-26 it talks about keeping the commandments and always reading daily, praying morning and night, and going to church weekly that keep your testimonies strong! I love these chapters. I also love how in Helamen 8-9 the people just want a "sign" and Nephi shows them like 2 or 3 huge signs and they still don't believe. HUGE testimony that humility is KEY in order to build a testimony or have faith. So there's a little insight in the personal script studies of Sister Boren!
Anyways, I have to head but I love you all to the moon and back! I'll send y'all lots of pictures so get ready for an email explosion.
