Jan. 7 -- A Week of Weird!

This week was very very odd. I guess nothing is normal in mission life!
We had to be in on New Years Eve at 6 and then we had a super p-day on New Years day and went up to Madison, TN to have a zone P-day. We played lots of volleyball and basketball and watched Monsters University for our movie-for-the-year, and I knitted some too. It was really good! Such a weird day though. I don't think I will like coming home from my mission at all. No no no.
Then on Thursday we had a full day of work! Woo! And on Friday we had Trainer/Trainee meeting in Nashville (saw Sister Gibson!) until 6. Then Saturday we worked all day and Sunday was normal too.
Weird week, huh? It feels like a blur.
Yesterday the whole town went crazy because of some snow and ice! HA! It was super funny. Logan was this bad all winter last year. I am convinced the very cold winters just follow me though because it is sooooooooooooooooooooooooo cold. So cold. We are on part time car too so we are like frozen popsicles on the weeks we walk haha! I love it though. It's great. We always laugh at ourselves because we have troubles with talking to people when our faces are frozen solid. Anyways, that's why I didn't email yesterday! The Library was closed, as well as every other store except Walmart here in Leb'nin! It was super funny, our "missionary mama" Deb called all of us and made sure that we knew what to do if your pipes froze and that we really need to buy some fleece lined pajamas and she just kept going on and on about random things to do when it is cold. Southerners are seriously my favorite people. It's like the world was going to end. Ah, hilarious.
Super cool miracle this past week though!! On Monday (last week) after P-day we went to Rhoads and David's house to teach them the restoration with Sister Gregory. We really focused on talking about the Holy Spirit and asking lots of inspired questions. It was so cool. The spirit was UNREAL. I have no idea what we said during that lesson, but it was the most powerful restoration lesson I have ever taught an investigator. We committed them to baptism on the 25th of January!! We had David pray at the end (which was crazy inspired) and it was so emotional and cool. They both felt the spirit super strong. We came back later that week and David said that he felt the spirit super strong when he prayed and that when we come and after we leave there is always "a lingering peace" in their apartment. We were all just giddy with excitement because he is recognizing the spirit and is so ready to learn more. They are so golden and ready.
2 Nephi 27:28 -- But behold, saith the Lord of Hosts: I will show unto the children of men that it is yet a very little while and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field; and the afruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest.
^^^ TRUTH. He is totally talking about Lebanon, Tennessee :)
There is so much work to do here and it's amazing to feel the Lord's guiding and loving hand helping us! My heart is full and I love this work. I am so grateful to be His missionary.
Have I ever told y'all that Alma 32 is one of my favorite chapters in the BOM? Well it is. I think the whole world would be better off if everyone could read chapters 31 AND 32. If you haven't read them in awhile, please do and email me to report back :) ALMA 31 I love the sons of Mosiah. Love love love.
My challenge to you ALL this year is to read the book of Mormon in full! Even if you already know it is the word of God! And if you don't or your testimony is wavering, then test it out. Dip your toes in the water. I can testify that no greater joy comes to man, than feasting upon the words of Christ and heeding to His teachings. "Follow thou me" (John 21:22).
I love how in Dad's letter to me he talked about all of our worldly possessions. In the end, we will have only our relationships with others and our relationship with God. We will not have those things that give us temporary happiness! That is a lesson I have had to learn and it is a great one.
I love you all so very much. I am so thankful for your examples to me. I love hearing from you and the upliftment you give me! You are all amazing people.
Love,
Sister Gibson and I
Sister Mitzi Gates and I!
